Homeless Gardening

This year, because I'm homeless {Bonnie prefers I call it houseless}, I decided to try my hand at container gardening.

Uh, let's just say it's been interesting.  A few weeks ago I was sure it was a big, fat, FAIL.  But, then Hayden comes screaming in from the backyard telling me I've "gotta come fast".  And I did.  And this is what that awesome little toot had to show me...

Your eyes have not deceived you...that is, indeed, a tomato!

However, this post isn't all about surprise little tomatoes.  It's also about sad, little, pretty-much-dead, tomato plants.
This little guy is hanging on for dear life.  We'll see how he looks this weekend.

The bell pepper plant has become a tasty snack for some critter.  I'm going to try spraying him with some soap and water, but I don't have high hopes for his survival.
My onions seem to be doing great though!  Clearly I was meant to be an onion farmer.
I planted 3 different types of tomatoes (a 4 pack of each), in 6 pots.  The 4 pack that I put in the 2 larger pots are doing great.  They're HUGE compared to the other ones.  I'm not sure if that's just a coincidence or if the pot size has anything to do with it or not?

Here's a peek at the other tomato that's started.
The big guys are rockin' and rollin' and the others are dying a slow death, I fear.  But, if they all croak on me, screw the stupid tomatoes, I'll dig 'em up and plant more onions.

I'll show this homesteading things who's boss!

  2. Thanks! I might only have 2 tomatoes all summer, but I'm proud of them! ;)
