Farmers Market

After nearly meeting my maker via green beans, I took my dirty, sweaty, stinky butt to the farmers market.  I figured, they're farmers, they're used to sweat...and I don't really care.

I informed my Mother of this, and she nearly passed out.  I believe her response was, "You went dirty?  In public?  Lord, you would have sooner died than do that 5 years ago!".  Sadly, she is quite correct.  No secret...I was VERY high maintenance.  But, I'm less with each passing day, thankfully.

I got there around 11:15, so all the fresh eggs were gone.  That's really what I was going for, but only because I'm too scared to knock on the door of the people who have the cute vintage "FRESH EGGS" sign in their yard.  I'm going to do it soon though!  Part of this whole process is to become more of a producer and less of a consumer.  But, until I raise my own chickens, I would rather support the local farmer than Wal-Mart.  Do you call people who keep chickens farmers?  Hmm.

Here's what I did get...
Pretty potato vine for my Mom, 2 Texas grown tomatoes from a man in overalls and a bear of local honey.  I'm allergic to bees, so I don't thinking bee keeping is on my homestead list of dream activities, but I do think it's beneficial to use local honey.  This guy is only about 5 miles from our house, so that's close enough for me.
